Kylar is traveling through the land of lightning with his parents when they decide to stop and rest. This was the part of their travels that Kylar enjoyed the most, when they would stop and his parents would play games to challenge him, or teach him useful skills in a way that was both fun and instructive. Sometimes, they taught him mundane things like wisely spending money or how to cook things in the wild, but other times they taught him survival and self-defense techniques.
As his parents sit down and rest, Kylar works to control his excitement and curiosity. They may teach a different lesson each day, but everyday was a lesson in patience and respect to them, and he knew rushing them would only make things worse. Finally his father beckons for him to follow him off the path and into the woods.
"Son, it's about time for you to start learning ninjutsu. Normally, children start a few years older than you are now, but your mother and I both feel you are mature beyond your years, and are capable enough to start the basics. Now..do you remember our lessons about the importance of chakra to ninjas?" Kylar nods enthusiastically, anxious to start learning ninjutsu. "Good, then you should also understand the importance of chakra control. One of the best ways to practice chakra control is by using it to walk on vertical surfaces.." Kylar's father points to the surrounding trees, "..and to walk on water." he points to a nearby stream. "Are you ready to take on your first step to becoming a ninja?"
"Yeah!" Without hesitation, Kylar starts practicing. He trains for hours, with constant mentoring and coaching from his father, until he has the chakra control techniques perfected. They return to his mother, where she fusses over his bumps and bruises from falling and makes him change out of his wet clothes. Throughout the next week, his father finds new ways to alter and complicate the task of walking on water until Kylar doesn't have to concentrate to stay on the surface.
