The energy in the air was palpable as Kylar and his class gather in the academy's training grounds. Some were excited, some were nervous, but the whole class was looking forward to today's lesson. Today, their sensei was going to expand their knowledge of taijutsu by teaching them to string moves into combos.
They started off by practicing their basic hand to hand skills to get their muscles warmed up and their heads in the right mindset. After they were stretched out and ready, they paired off for sparring partners. That is when their sensei started running them through basic combo drills. He would show them one, then let them practice until they were at least proficient, before moving on to a different combo.
Kylar spent the entire sparring session helping his partner learn his techniques, already confident in his own skills. He watched the others start picking up the combos, some slower than others, but all making progress. After sensei went through all the basic combos, he started off a competition.
Kylar's first opponent was rather pathetic. He new the kid was a long rage type ninja, but he was not expecting to kid to freeze up entirely. Too bad for Kylar, he didn't realize just how unnerving his cold eyes could be when staring down an opponent. Only their sensei could look in his eyes and understand why they were so hard to look into. It came from witnessing death, feeling pain, and dealing both to others. Sensei didn't know what was in this kids past, but he knew Chunin with less haunting eyes. And the kid had the skills to match.
Kylar was both a natural and experienced fighter, even at such a young age. He already understood the timing and flow of battle, his attacks flowing from one to another seamlessly. His combos were so proficient, it seemed like he not only had control over his whole body, but his opponents also, setting his opponent up so well that they hardly knew they were set up, even after the fact. By the end of class, Kylar won the competition, without any question about his superiority, though many expected him to win anyway.
They class went over what they learned, bringing up each others strengths and weaknesses. After making preparations for their next class, they left, many sporting bruises, sprains, and limps.
